A colour filter attenuates light and reduces glare, increasing contrast and resolution through selective filtering and reducing fatigue in the eyes. The more experienced an observer is, the more he or she will appreciate this filter. The effectiveness of the filter depends on various factors such as the aperture and the focal length of the telescope, the magnification used and the viewing conditions.
Baader eyepiece filters can be screwed into the chrome barrel of any 1¼” eyepiece. All Baader eyepiece filters exceed by far the quality of the usual, roughly polished (flame polished) coloured glass filters and are coated to avoid reflections. The double-sided 7 layer anti-reflective coating with only 0.25% residual reflection per surface is the most sophisticated coating (anti-reflective coating) that has ever been developed for colour filters.
The filter discs are screwed into blackened aluminium mount and come in a special filter box.
