The MX German equatorial mount has always been a popular Paramount model, and the new Paramount MX Series 6 offers several important improvements. On-axis absolute encoders provide a significant advantage over motor-based encoders. With on-axis absolute encoders, the mount knows its exact position at all times.
In contrast, motor-based encoders only track movement since initialization, requiring a nightly homing process. The on-axis absolute encoders are fitted directly to the mount axes, bypassing the worm drives, for more accurate tracking.
