It provides high definition star images to the edge of a wide imaging field, making it suitable for astrophotography. The unique catadioptric system consists of a high precision sixth-order aspherical primary mirror, a convex secondary mirror, and a triplet corrector lens. This setup offers exceptionally good performance in astrophotography, with coma aberration, spherical aberration, and curvature of field perfectly corrected.
The images captured with the VC200L are stunningly sharp, with star images less than 15 microns across all the way to the very edge of the 42mm image circle. The VISAC mirror produces images of high quality that are perfect for both visual observation and astrophotography. An optional VC reducer is available, which produces a fast f/6.4 focal ratio ideal for imaging deep sky objects.
